It is the committee's goal to create suggested guidelines for the use forensic imaging in anthropology to improve and contribute to forensic anthropological research and practical analysis worldwide. This document should be taken in conjunction with the other ISFRI recommendation reports for practitioners. The guidelines are a reference and educational tool, designed to assist practitioners in enhancing examinations used in medico-legal investigation with forensic imaging. They are not intended, nor should be used to establish a legal standard of practice. Additionally, it is recognized that legal requirements of a local jurisdiction supersede and may require deviation from the guidelines. Practitioners must be aware of the specific legal requirements in their jurisdiction that may impact the utilization of imaging of skeletal remains and the crime scene.
